POEM
The
Purple Eyesore of Texas
Sung to "The Yellow Rose of Texas"
There's
a Purple Eyesore in Texas that no one should ever wear.
Nobody could miss it, it screams out "I am here!"
They'd cry so if they wore it, their moans would break your
heart,
And if I hadn't worked so hard I might take it apart.
It's
the ugliest Purple Eyesore that Texas ever saw;
Plastic beads, eyelash yarn, a bandana snugged up to the
jaw.
The bandana is the fastener -- the "clasp", if
you need to know;
This way it fits on every neck with a knot that'll never
show.
A
large-linked golden curtain chain is the "base"
t'which all's attached,
Sewn on to the bandana -- it's sturdier than a latch.
There's a package bow on the left side, to mimic a Yellow
Rose.
It's attached to the purple bandana, stapled right under
your nose.
On
the right, a rainbow of pipe cleaners, laid out like a few
more ribs.
Duded up with beads -- and wire -- and stars: a banner to
win the gay bids.
Look closer then, my darling: it's fastened with safety
pins.
Take it off the necklace and wear it to your favorite shindig!
At
the bottom hangs a bunny; it's a bead, no fooling , my dear.
Above its head is a cowboy hat that's cocked over one ear.
Side to side there hangs a wire; it's shaped to have branches.
Two colors of brown all twisted around, and, yes, they're
s'posed to be antlers.
"A
bunny with antlers?", "A rabbit with horns!",
you cry -- but you're no dope.
You can't bear to say what we already know, that the thing
is a jackalope.
But beads on each end of the antlers? the colors, the design
are poor fits.
And "tassels" that dangle from those big red round
beads look like pasties hanging off -- oh.
Silver
button covers are strung along in a single seam.
As beads they underscore our design: a Purple Western Theme.
The very final detail -- I'm almost done, I swear --
Four guns along the bandana top -- the epitome of Western
wear!
What
more can be said of this Eyesore? "Embarrassing",
"Awkward", "Just sad."
But don't cry for me as winning 'uld be sweet -- a necklaee
that's good 'cuz it's bad.
Yeehaw!
