POEM
FIASCO
A girl with big dreams is born.
She learns to love everything that comes her way,
She wants to be a star on the stage,
She loves to dance and make "decent" beads.
She has a fetish for shoes but you probably can't see,
She is an animal lover and has a warmth towards the sea,
But her fears make it hard to find what to be.
" Never good enough,
I always come in third,
How am I going to get my voice heard?"
She dreams and she dreams but they never come true.
So keep your head up girl,
You'll get there soon.

MATERIALS:
The beads I used are cluttered and there is no specific color scheme
or rhythm on the necklace. The necklace is slanted and an uncomfortable
star is located on the neck to display discomfort the girl is feeling
in the poem. The star I sewed has a shoe charm hidden behind it to show
how timid the girl is in the poem. Some of the beads I made using flame
work, some painted, some with clay. Some of the beads are not made precisely
and it shows the ugliness of failure. There also are beads that I bought
that are used that are made of plastic and glass. The center piece is
made out of wood and letters from a game that displays, "FIASCO" which
is glued together. Hanging from it is a ribbon displaying "3rd Place",
a ballet shoe given by a friend from a dance performance, some wire and
sequins I twisted together, a string of beads with a pin that shows a
sad face (no hope), and a dolphin bead that was given by my grandmother
attached to it. The clasp is a safety pin and a paper clip that is easy
to attach and detach.
