Chained
Chained together
On a necklace
Called Death
Skeletons and Skulls
Drape our chest
With the demise
Of dreams
In hues of
Bitter Cream
Chained together
On a necklace
Called Death

It's an ugly necklace
That much is true
With rubber hens and gaudy beads
Of green and blue
And you can't help but stare
At the shrunken head with it's beady eyes
And fu-man-chu
Ugly yes -
Especially when it stares right back at you!

70's RETRO NECKLACE
I had
a party to go to...
Retro was the need...
So
to my trusty crafting room,
I traveled with such speed.
Metallic
pony -- silver, turquoise,
and purplish-pink...
Little mirrors, painted wood tears,
peacock feathers...I think!
It
must have been
very late that night...
For in the morning
"IT" gave me a fright!

White Elephant Necklace
I made a necklace with some beads,
I found at my church white elephant.
I can't believe that at one time,
They were considered elegant.
These beads were ugly on their own,
But when I'd strung them all together,
My best friend thought that I was stoned.
I said she knew me better.

Poem for an Ugly Necklace
Flat balls, flat balls, hanging on a string,
If you were made of metal
Then you would surely ding!
Flat balls, flat balls, hanging on a string,
If you were Magic 8-Balls
What fortunes would you bring!
Flat balls, flat balls, hanging on a string,
Your bright and cheery colors
Make me want to sing!
Flat balls, flat balls, hanging on a string,
When your wires get loose
They poke my skin and sting!

The Ugly Necklace That Could...
Give a camera cataracts;
Spook a herd of 60 yaks.
Make Bill Clinton tell the truth;
Send Martha Steward through the roof.
Make Indy cards screech to a stop;
Cause necks to twist and eyes to pop.
Make Barbie's hair frizz and curl;
Prompt Elton John to kiss a girl.
Provoke small children to stare and point;
Drive the preacher to smoke a joint.
Cause Mr. Blackwell to revise his list;
Excite gorillas in the mist.
Of our ugly necklace these may be true,
But may we share another view?
Beads that transcend time and space;
A perfect frame for an imperfect face.
Bone and glass and metal, too;
A unique creation thru and thru.
Dainty chokers and pristine pearls
may be the choice of other girls;
But give us different, give us fun;
Our ugly necklace...It's the one!

On a Turkey Neckbone Pendant
The turkey, a plump, dim-witted beast,
gave itself up for a holiday feast.
Its head was lost, along with every feather.
It's neck because soup, then was strung on a loop
of beaded cord, knotted with leather.
The length is right; it's balanced; it's quite
symmetrical. So what's the matter?
The beads are of glass and twine and stone,
but what's that focal bead -- a bone?
Should it go around my neck or on a platter?

Necklace made of hand-felted dog-hair
It Felt Good
I've made a few necklaces in my day
but I never thought I would make one this way
What color, size, and type would it be
I'd ponder this question and wait and see
What would come to my mind and cause me to make
a necklace so ugly it was hard to take
The media was crucial to meet this end
I would use the hair of man's best friend
Saving her hair was soon carried out
brushing her daily would bring this about
Before too long I had just enough
to make all the beads out of this stuff
I would felt them by hand and shape them too
transforming fluff into balls and squares (to name just a few)
The necklace took on a life that began to transcend
everything else that needs doing before each day's end...

You see a necklace no beauty is there to see
Even if I saw it in a tree swinging in the breeze
The birds would be disturbed to see it lying
By the curb they would pass it by without a blinking
and eye for there is no beauty here to see.

Expressions
Expression is a form of words that are heard in silence,
A way of exposing a deeper side without the ailment of shyness.
Self-expression can be unique and different from anyone else,
This necklace is the way I choose to express myself.
Strong like metal yet fragile like wax,
Can even be translucent like fishing wire after the poles been case.
Colorful as a child's box of crayons,
Flexible like the empty aluminum can.
Orderly as the beads that you see all in a row,
But sometimes as bent out of shape as the spoons that hang below.

Precious Metal
Two centuries had past since the end.
A new culture was beginning to thrive once more.
Amidst all of their price and accomplishment was the "keybead".
They had found the weird shapes of metal all over the ground.
They were so similar to each other but had small differences.
It was either the size or the rugged edges, but there were differences.
They didn't know what they were used for, but they gathered them up.
They constructed a piec eof rope and put the pieces of shiny metal
on it.
They placed irregular beads in between the metal to space it out.
This then was worn around the neck of the leader of the new culture.
It symbolized the new beginning and the key to a new life.

Pretty Ugly
Let me tell youa store about how this comes to be.
Once a man was trapped inside a four letter word
"ugly," and urgently needed to be free.
Everywhere he goes, he looks down and frowns.
Wondering how could this be....
Saying; "what the heck was wrong with me?
Why am I soo ugly?"
And then he came across a mirror,
Hesitating to see his own terror.
But once he felt that he had the courage,
He lifted his head up and looks for the horror...
But then he realized,
when he opened his eyes,
That it was not him that was ugly.
What it was was fuzzy.
It was that darn brown belt that was made into an ugly necklace.
Pretty ugly he said, pretty ugly indeed!
So he was freed and pleased!
