Necklace
(Detailed Images, Full
Image)

I sometimes call
this the Dutchess of Aiko Necklace. It has European classic lines,
and the adaptation of a little Japanese technique at the focal point,
called a "Bundle of Straw". The Bundle of Straw allows some
free movement, at the same time creating a point of decorative interest.
The Bundle of
Straw is created using a narrow sterling silver tube bead in the second
(olivine) strand. The tube moves freely between the two carnelian
discs, forcing one disc to protrude forward. The tube also moves freely
within the 2nd loop of the 3-hole sterling silver rondelle spacer
bars on either side of the carnelian discs. This free movement allows
the piece to move with the person's body, and not get stiff or awkward.
This CLASSICISM
NECKLACE (or Dutchess of Aiko Necklace) is comprised of 3 strands,
each made up of Czech glass rondelles in matte amethyst, matte olivine
and matte topaz. There are sterling silver findings and a 3-strand
sterling silver hook/eye clasp. The discs here are carnelian.
(The carnelian appears redder in the photos, but is a little more
on the brown side). The piece is strung on Soft Touch cable wire.
This necklace
is approximately 20 inches.
